Becoming a parent is an incredible journey but can be very overwhelming. Massage Therapy can be a useful tool while you navigate through all of the changes.
Pregnancy
Growing a human is hard work. Massage is safe and beneficial to both mom and baby through ALL trimesters of pregnancy. It can help with decreasing pain and swelling, improving quality of sleep, and improving your overall sense of wellbeing. Modifications in positioning and pillowing will be made to keep you and baby comfy and safe as your pregnancy progresses.
Post-Partum
Next comes the post- partum period "the 4th trimester" Postpartum massage is specifically massage treatments that occur during the first year after you have given birth. It includes the period of time until the uterus involutes to its pre-pregnant state. During this time you can go through many physical, emotional and psychological adjustments. Massage is safe as soon as you are deemed medically stable by your primary medical provider. This can be as early as within the first 24hrs after giving birth. However, typically within the first few weeks to months after delivery.
Some things we may address during your post-partum massage treatment include relieving pain, tension and swelling, improving quality of sleep, improving body awareness, managing breast pain, congestion, blocked milk ducts, improve would healing and scar tissue formation after a cesarean birth.
