CESAREAN SCAR RECOVERY

If you've had a cesarean birth you may want to consider massage therapy as part of your recovery. Having your scar massaged is an affective way to reduce pain and promote tissue health.

A cesarean birth is a major abdominal surgery, many layers of tissues are affected. You may experience numbness, altered sensation around the scar, feelings of tightness, low back/pelvic/groin pain. Massaging your scar ensures the tissue is given a chance to recover and perform optimally.

It is never to late to start scar work. Ideally I would like to see you around the 6-8 week mark when the incision is fully healed and you've been cleared at your six week doctors visit. However, even a mature scar can benefit from treatment!
